CIS - Summer Camp Program

Summer Camp Program - CIS partnered with other community organizations including: Aurora Township, Aurora University, Breaking Free, Family Focus, The Friends of Aurora’s After School Programs, the Fox Valley Park District, Quad County Urban League, Robert Crown Centers for Health Education, Sow a Seed, Triple Threat Mentoring, YWCA of Aurora and Heritage YMCA.

The primary goal of the summer camps is to provide youth in Aurora a structured, supervised and stable environment during the summer. Children should look forward to coming each day where they can learn new skills, make new friends, experiment with ideas and grow in self-esteem. Children had the opportunity to build friendships, explore new interests with other children and with each staff member. The importance of cooperation, friendship, teamwork, decision making, responsibility, trust and distinguishing between right and wrong through their experience will be emphasized continuously.

Summer elementary camps operated June 13 – July 21, Monday - Thursday. Additional information was provided on enrollment form for details of times and locations.

CIS also offered a Star Power Summer Drama Camp for middle and high students across Aurora. This camp ran Monday – Thursday, June 20 – July 13, 2011 12:00PM – 4:00PM with location and auditions which were determined by May 1, 2011.

This camp will provide an opportunity for students interested in a Musical Theatre experience which will focus on creative drama, improvisation, vocal, dance and acting. After mastering the rehearsal process the students will perform in a professional stage production of Bugsy Malone for the community, family and friends. This four week half-day theatre camp will be an unforgettable experience into finding his/her STAR POWER!

This is a Communities In Schools Summer Camp experience in partnership with the City of Aurora and free to all participants.
